Hitchhiking in South Korea: Bulguksa Temple, Gyeongju
24th of April, 2025.
Next morning, we have an amazing breakfast with pita bread, cheese, vegetables, fried eggs and strawberries. While we are still at the table, Kian gives me something I need more than anything right now: socks. I cannot believe it! My two socks are old and large, with wholes on it already, so when Kian presents me with this two super thick and good pair of socks, I cannot believe it! Thank you universe! They also give me individual packages of mixed fruits and nuts. Yay!
We leave the house around 10 o’clock to go to the National Museum. As I said it earlier, for whatever reason I should not visit the museum yesterday, as I though there’s an entrance ticket. But it’s actually FREE. I think it’s lovely and very informative, with some very interesting exhibitions. We were a bit unlucky with the hundred school kids visiting but it’s alright. I say once in Gyeongju, you should definitely pass by.
Around 11.00 o’clock they start driving me to Bulguksa Temple, which is a bit outside town, circa of 20 minutes driving. As we say our goodbyes, I am certain we will see each other again when I come back to the church to pick up my stuff, but in fact, I wouldn’t, so this was the last time I was seeing Kian and Pastor Kim. I wish I had said more and let them know how grateful I was for all their amazing kindness. But I’m sure they were not looking for any of that, and besides, deep inside their hearts I’m sure they know.
Bulguksa Temple:
Yes, it worth it. Yes, it’s gorgeous! Just make sure to explore the whole area, as there are a lot of great and beautiful spots for photographs which people don’t even see it because they are so focused in only taken photos where everybody else is it, and with everybody else on it. What is it with you people? Are you too blind to notice that?
You can easily spend two hours here, walking slowly and waiting for the perfect time to take some good photos without any people on it. Plus taking breaks and admiring this marvelous place without just passing by in a rush.
